Mi3 Brings You Erementar Gerade!

Elemental Gelade? Gerad? エレメンタルジェレイド?Call it what you want, but it's back, and Mi3 is happy to be bringing you volumes 13-18, which were left unpublished when Tokyopop closed. Digital Manga Publishing has been pounding through the first 12 volumes and has 9 of them for sale on eManga. I'm surprised they aren't up yet on Kindle or Nook like the rest of the titles from DMG, but we'll be sure to announce when they become available there. For those of you unfamiliar with DMG, there is a link on the sidebar to a post that outlines all the options for reading digitally.

I know many people would like to see a print run of these books, so head on over to DMP's forum and let your voices be heard or give them a holler on Facebook or Twitter. Like with all companies, things like this come down to money, and the higher-ups need to feel confident that there is a demand before they invest in print. Mi3 would LOVE to see these books printed, so let us know what you think! DMP ran kickstarters for two Tezuka titles. Would YOU be willing to participate in something like that?

We are just now working out the nitty gritty details like scheduling, so stay tuned for projected release dates and more info!

He's Mine

He's Mine by Kyo Youya has just been released for Kindle, Nook, and eManga!

Also, please note that the book was lettered by Mika Riverstone and the editor was Mia Chiresa (contrary to what the credits state).

After Hakana is rejected by his crush and comforted by Rinya, their childhood friendship develops into a friendship with benefits. Since his physical needs are taken care of by Rinya, Hakana feels no desire to tie himself down with a serious relationship until Rinya’s ex-lover shows up and wants a second chance. Suddenly, just being friends isn’t enough for Hakana, but can the two of them handle taking things to the next level?

Attacked on a Tiger's Whim - Otaku USA Review

Check out Otaku USA's review of some DMG titles including Attacked on a Tiger's Whim!

Attacked on a Tiger's Whim

Tiger's Whim follows the usual yaoi trajectory of violation to romance, but it does so with enough panache to make it palatable reading. Tomoya has been assaulted twice since he was 17 by mysterious, strange Murase, who tends to hit-and-run, disappearing for years afterward. Third time is the charm and after assault number two Tomoya can't shake his feelings for Murase, only to discover that the times Murase left, he left because he was in jail. That's right, it's a "thug love" story, full of men in suits, guns, kidnapping, grudges, love triangles, plot twists aplenty, and the token ruffies sub-plot! Tomoya gets caught up in Murase's dangerous world and the best plot variation Yamada can offer is having the yakuza thugs who ferry Tomoya around call him "Ma'am" because he's the boss's mistress. (Which, it turns out, is pretty amusing.) While the art is good, with solid character designs, the backgrounds are merely functional and the action scenes are skipped entirely. There is one "gun battle" that amounts to something taking place off panel and suddenly Murase is wounded but the audience is left to guess how. Whether the action scenes were skipped due to expedience or artistic inability, at least the sex scenes didn't get skipped over. They are plentiful if brief.

A Truthful Picture

This was a really touching slice of life story, and Kari-sensei made the characters feel real and substantial (especially Teru). The short stories that followed the main story were also enjoyable, and I think every reader will be able to relate to at least one or another of them. I know a few definitely gave me pangs of nostalgia.

High school student Teruaki Kittaka had a secret crush on his classmate, Kenji Yoshino. After a scarring experience in middle school, Teru was sure to keep the secret to himself... Or so he thought. What will happen if Kenji finds out...?! Sumako Kari presents this and a collection of other touching tales of love and affection that will resonate with people of all ages and backgrounds.
